Publication is not necessarily the end of scientific evaluation. Journal of Current Medical Research and Opinion supports responsible post-publication discussion when it contributes to the accuracy, interpretation or integrity of the scholarly record.
Readers may contact the journal regarding substantive methodological, ethical, statistical or integrity concerns relating to published articles.
Post-publication comments should identify the article and explain the concern clearly. Scientific disagreement should focus on evidence and methodology rather than personal criticism.
When appropriate, authors may be invited to respond to substantive concerns. A response does not automatically close an inquiry if evidence indicates that further assessment is necessary.
The journal may consult independent experts, request underlying records or seek information from institutions when necessary to evaluate serious concerns.
Post-publication assessment may result in no action, clarification, correction, an expression of concern, retraction or another proportionate response depending on the evidence.
Authors are expected to cooperate with legitimate questions concerning their published work and notify the journal if they later discover a material error.
