AI and AI-Assisted Technologies Policy

Journal of Current Medical Research  and Opinion recognises that artificial intelligence and AI-assisted technologies may support some research and writing activities. Their use must not undermine authorship accountability, confidentiality, originality, data integrity or transparent reporting.

AI Cannot Be an Author

Generative AI systems and similar technologies cannot be listed as authors because they cannot accept responsibility for published work, approve a manuscript or respond to research-integrity concerns.

Author Responsibility

Human authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, references, interpretation, integrity and legality of all submitted content, including material developed with AI assistance.

Disclosure

Substantive use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies in manuscript preparation, data analysis, image generation or other research processes should be transparently disclosed when relevant to understanding or reproducing the work. Routine spelling or grammar assistance does not normally require the same level of disclosure.

Fabricated Material

Authors must verify AI-generated statements and references. Fabricated citations, invented data, misleading images or unsupported claims remain the responsibility of the authors.

Images and Data

AI-generated or AI-modified scientific images or data must not be presented as authentic experimental observations. Legitimate computational methods integral to the research should be described sufficiently for evaluation and reproducibility.

Reviewers

Reviewers must preserve manuscript confidentiality. Unpublished manuscripts or confidential peer-review information should not be uploaded to external generative-AI services when doing so could disclose confidential information.

Editors

Editors must maintain confidentiality and remain personally accountable for editorial decisions. Automated tools may support workflows but must not replace responsible human editorial judgement.
